Twenty-five years after September 11, 2001, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives stolen when Islamist terrorists hijacked four planes and attacked America. Behind every name was someone deeply loved, someone expected home, and a family whose world changed forever. We honor the firefighters, police officers, and first responders who risked everything to save others at the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. We remember the passengers and crew of Flight 93 who fought back, and the responders who survived that day but later lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses. We salute the brave men and women who served and fought for our country in the years that followed, especially those who never came home. To the families still carrying that loss: your loved ones were more than heroes to our nation. They were your whole world.
