Success can look like cockiness to people who haven’t achieved what you’re trying to achieve. I’ve learned that firsthand. And my confidence in myself is stronger today than it has ever been. And to some people, that confidence will sound cocky. I get it. But anyone who has ever built something, did something early, or taken a real risk knows this… You need an almost unreasonable amount of belief before the rest of the world sees what you see. You have to be willing to say, “I think everyone is looking at this wrong,” and then live with the possibility that you could be the one who’s wrong. You see, it’s easy to criticize somebody else’s conviction from the sidelines. It’s MUCH harder to put your reputation, your $ money, and years of your life behind a belief. That’s what I’ve done with Teslaconomics. I’ve spent years explaining why I believe Tesla is much bigger than a car company and why betting against Elon and Tesla will end very badly. And now I’m watching pieces of that thesis move from slides and promises into the real world. And there’s a big difference between arrogance and confidence. Arrogance is thinking you’re better than everyone else. Confidence is doing the homework, seeing something you believe others are missing, putting your own skin in the game, and being willing to stand there while people laugh at you. To normal people, this often is perceived as a mix. Most big ideas sound ridiculous early. Then they sound possible. Then one day everyone acts like it was obvious. Then everyone acts like they’ve been on your side all along. So if I sound confident when I talk about Tesla, Cybercab, Robotaxi, or where I think this company is going… I guess that’s good. I’ve spent years building that conviction. I did my homework. Now I want to prove why the doubters and shorts were always wrong... again.
