After announcing his international retirement in August, Lionel Messi will have his “last dance” with Argentina’s national team in a friendly match against Benin in Buenos Aires on October 6. The match against Benin — not the glitziest opponent, but one that should at least guarantee Messi a winning send-off — will be his 208th and final international appearance. He will fancy his chances of adding to his 125 goals for Argentina in front of, potentially, all of their 2022 World Cup-winning squad and their families. It will be one of three scheduled matches for Argentina this international window.
