Ahmad-Reza Radan says the “enemy” is exploiting Iran’s worsening economic conditions to create chaos and has ordered police, including cyber and public security units, to identify and confront those “inciting” people on the streets and social media. In other words, Iranians expressing anger over real economic grievances and the Islamic Republic’s failures are being treated as a security threat.
