OPTICAL NETWORKING DAILY UPDATE - OCTOBER 14, 2026
NEW PRODUCTS
• Marvell: Alaska E 3.2T protocol-aware retimer (16x 224G PAM4, 3.2 Tbps aggregate, Ethernet/UALink/ESUN, 3nm), announced October 13, 2026 at OCP Global Summit 2026 and now sampling to customers. No public part number in the release.
• Marvell: Alaska A 1.6T AEC DSP, second generation (3nm, 8x 224G PAM4, 12.8W, AEC reach beyond 6m, double the first generation), announced October 13, 2026 and now sampling. Successor to the first-generation Alaska A. No public part number in the release.
DESIGN WIN
• Ciena: Space Norway awarded Ciena a turnkey contract on October 13, 2026 to modernize its legacy Svalbard subsea cable systems and power the new Arctic Way system (service expected 2028), using the 6500 Packet-Optical Platform, WaveLogic 6 Extreme, Spectrum Sharing and Navigator NCS. No contract value disclosed.
SCREENING NOTES
• Ayar Labs: A claimed October 13 S1Pro 6.4T CPO announcement remains unverified after two days of checking across the Ayar newsroom and the major wire services; it should not be treated as a confirmed product. Ayar's actual October 13 news is a live CPO demonstration with Wiwynn and GUC at OCP (TeraPHY optical engine plus SuperNova light source), a demonstration only.
• FS: A claimed October 13, 2026 launch of 800G ZR/ZR+ coherent modules does not check out: the family launched July 1, 2026, and the October 13 date on the product pages is a dynamic page element, not a launch date.
• NVIDIA: Spectrum-6 coverage circulating with October dates is not a new launch: Spectrum-6 was unveiled in July 2026, and the in-window items are the October 12 Vera Rubin OCP contribution and Meta's adoption of Spectrum-6 switches.
• Astera Labs: No new product or status change. In-window items are re-posts of the Aries 7 signal-conditioning portfolio (announced October 8, 2026), the Orion rack-scale reference design (October 12), and the previously reported 1060 nm VCSEL PCIe-over-optics demo (October 12).
• POET Technologies: No company release on October 13 or 14, 2026; the coverage is third-party stock analysis. No sampling-to-production or GA transition is stated, and no status change.
• Lumentum: No change. The CEI-448G interoperability framework dates to late 2025, not an October 13 announcement, and the October 12 VCSEL PCIe-over-optics demo was already reported.
• Lightmatter: Analyst coverage dated October 13, 2026 describes the Passage open-rack systems reported earlier in the week; Passage M1000 is already generally available, so the analyst "now shipping" wording changes nothing. A Guide DR laser module is mentioned without a vendor product page, part number or GA date.
• Credo: ams OSRAM joined the Credo-led OCP short-reach micro-emitter optics (SRMO) workstream on October 13, 2026. Standards participation only, no product.
