German authorities removed a one-month-old Palestinian infant from her Syrian mother after acting on a Dutch decision that allegedly classified the child's Palestinian father as "a danger to his family," according to Al Jazeera Net. ￭ The case follows the circulation of footage filmed in the Netherlands on May 19, showing Dutch police throwing Malak Mahmoud, who was nine months pregnant, to the ground and dragging her during the arrest of her husband, Wesam Miqdad. ￭ In an effort to remove the legal basis cited by authorities, Miqdad told Al Jazeera he relocated to Belgium to file a new asylum claim. "I went to Germany to live a normal life with my wife and daughter... All I want is for my daughter Reem to be returned to her mother," he said.
