Tesla Energy is quietly becoming a major piece of the world's energy infrastructure Construction has officially begun on a massive new Tesla Megapack project in Newcastle, Australia 🇦🇺 The Steel River East battery will feature: • 112 Tesla Megapack 2XL units • 200 MW of power • 400 MWh of energy storage • Enough stored energy to supply ~27,000 homes for a day The scale is incredible the Megapacks alone weigh more than 4,000 tonnes combined, with ~2,200 cubic metres of concrete and 200+ tonnes of reinforcing steel going into the site The battery will charge when electricity demand is lower and dispatch energy back to the grid when it's needed most, helping stabilize the grid and support more renewable generation Construction started this month, with operations expected in late 2027 Tesla building the infrastructure that will increasingly power entire cities
