Valve has acknowledged the volume of low-quality and AI-generated games that appeared during the latest Steam Next Fest.
At a panel in South Korea, Valve’s Marc Wilkinson said the company is “fully aware of the situation” and that “a significant number of people are thinking about how to solve this problem.”
October’s Next Fest featured more than 7,300 demos, up from roughly 4,400 in June.
The event surfaces games more randomly for the first two days so every entry gets some exposure, then switches to personalized recommendations.
Wilkinson said the trade-off is that some low-quality games get shown.
Valve does not want to tell developers which tools they should or shouldn’t use, including AI.
