Follow the developer. That’s been my strategy for as long as I’ve been an investor. Every company has been getting more digital for over a decade, which keeps moving developers closer to the center of how value gets created. That's what led me to @mitchellh & @armon at @HashiCorp, to @rauchg at @vercel, to @nikitabase at @neondatabase, and more recently to @fal, @browserbase & @superlogical. The question I get now is whether the importance of the developer recedes as agents write most of the code. I actually think developers become even more central to value creation in an increasingly AI agent-driven world. There’s more you can build with software than at any point in history, and the surface area for a developer tool has vastly expanded. You’re empowering the developer, as well as that developer’s agents.
