Just a full and honest accounting of who we were this past year and who we intend to be in the next one. What I love most about this day is what it asks of us. Not to be perfect, but to be honest. To repair what we broke. To forgive what was done to us. To begin again. My family arrived in Canada in 1956 with almost nothing. Every year on this day I think about them, and about how much of what I have was built on their courage. To everyone fasting tonight and tomorrow, an easy and meaningful fast. G'mar chatima tova.
