Beginning around 2019, she contracted with marketers to send signed doctors’ orders and Medicare beneficiaries’ DNA samples to her lab in exchange for a cut of the reimbursements. The genetic tests often cost Medicare several thousand dollars each. Authorities say they were frequently **not medically necessary** and often never used in a patient’s treatment. The lab billed Medicare about **$142 million** and was paid about **$95 million**. Charges include conspiracy to commit health care fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, paying and receiving kickbacks tied to a federal health program, plus later counts for destroying or altering records in a federal investigation. ### How she fled She was indicted and arrested on July 11, 2022, then released on bond with a GPS ankle monitor. On December 8, 2022, the monitor was removed and agents could not reach her. Her last known ping was Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. A warrant for tampering with a GPS device was issued the next day. Investigators concluded she left the country on a private plane using a false identity and went to Vietnam. In July 2023 she was charged separately with destroying and altering records. In June 2026 she was added to the Most Wanted Fraudsters list. The FBI believed she had been hiding in Vietnam. This case fits a larger pattern of Medicare genetic-testing kickback schemes: marketers get a cut, labs bill unnecessary tests, taxpayers pay.
