Did you know that in the 1890s, women started riding bikes and it scared the patriarchy so much that doctors invented fake diseases to stop women from riding?
They said that the bicycle seat would cause friction that might excite women and called it “chronic onanism”. It was treated as a moral disease when, really, they were terrified of women feeling pleasure without a man.
