My nominee for best Father’s Day story from the NY Post: Hasbro SVP “Came From Dirt” but saw American Dream magic as his family took in more than 250 foster children over the years. Matt Proulx is one of 13 kids. His parents adopted 11 children. His parents started as a temporary respite household for kids removed from bad situations before finding semi-permanent or permanent families. Over the years, their home developed into a therapeutic household for the most challenging kids who had failed with other foster families. When Matt reflects on his family’s experience, he has seen the worst and best of humanity. A couple of months before his dad died of cancer, his parents adopted three siblings because they felt it was morally wrong to split them up. In our busy, self-absorbed world, this story touched me deeply with the incredible impact one family’s compassion and love made in so many children’s lives.
