I lost track of how much my vtuber model(s) cost because it’s been 6 years with changes and updates each year, but since I was streaming full time it was worth it to me and was an investment. I would use part of the money I made from streaming and put it back towards this job over time — pc upgrades, vtuber model and assets. It makes great tax expense write offs too! I could definitely find the specific cost through my documented expenses over the years for taxes, but I prefer for my sanity not to see it. 🙈 Of course I do regret making *some* impulsive choices back then, which was partly due to not knowing what route I wanted with my design, but all of those choices along the way eventually led to me being able to figure out what I’m happy with. (Though if you’re indecisive like me, I suggest hiring a character designer because it’ll save you time and money in the long run ><) It might be boring of me but I don’t plan on changing my main model ever again. Catfox will stay catfox from now on, yes with human ears too…though it may be harder to see now. If customizable models were available at the time when I started VTubing in 2020, I think that would’ve been the route I’d have gone and it would’ve saved me so much. Thankfully that’s available for everyone now with so many options and I highly recommend using customizable models. It’s just a thousand times more cost efficient and the quality looks just as good as a uniquely commissioned one. They’re also perfect for the most indecisive person because if you wake up one day and want to rebrand to a completely different look, you don’t need to spend anything more. Then later down the road you can use your stream paycheck to invest in something more unique to you or put it towards a house. 🩷 I hope it works out for everyone and I think we shouldn’t be so judgmental on how other people spend their money on, especially if it’s not hurting anyone. At the end of the day we’re all here trying to make the most out of living in this world and there’s nothing wrong with adding some sparkles to make the experience more enjoyable! ✨🌸
