MORE ON BANNING NEWS CORPORATIONS FROM THE WHITE HOUSE Policy and political debates aside, the Constitution does not prevent a president from banning a news corporation from the White House.  It is not a violation of the 1st amendment.  As I've said repeatedly here and written about in my book, Unfreedom of the Press, past presidents have done a great deal more and worse than Trump is doing here, including jailing journalists, closing newspapers, directing IRS audits of publishers, etc. That said, given the activism of the courts, especially the federal district courts and particularly in DC, I expect judicial obstacles to be created. The irony is that judges have broad discretion to control courtroom access and media presence. There are various rules and statutes to consider, but they may ban cameras, recording devices, or live broadcasts if they believe it is necessary to protect the integrity of the trial, ensure a fair process, or prevent undue influence on participants.
