Anthropic expressed preliminary interest in using potential SpaceX data centers in space, President and Co-Founder Daniela Amodei says, while playing down the near-term timeline. Amodei said the interest was part of Anthropic's announcement with SpaceX, whose Colossus compute Anthropic already rents for $1.25 billion a month. On timing, she was direct. Space data centers are not "on our to do list in 2027." SpaceX is pitching orbital compute as the future of AI infrastructure, and CFO Bret Johnsen says it is coming within a couple of years. Amodei's comments show the customer interest is real. The open question is when, not whether.
