Famed award winning Prof. Alan Dershowitz, one of the United States' leading jurists, announced on Friday that he is organizing “a gathering of 100,000 New Yorkers in Central Park,” to welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he is expected to visit the U.N. General Assembly meeting in September. He also said that he is not surprised NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani backed down on threats to arrest the leader of the Jewish state, that should he try, he himself would be arrested. After the mayor campaigned on a promise to obey an ICC warrant, and have the city arrest the prime minister, he had appeared earlier this week in a social media video, acknowledging that while Netanyahu is “the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people,” he is powerless to arrest him. He also said the Israeli prime minister was not welcome in Americas largest city. Dershowitz, who just months ago left his multi decade affiliation with the Democratic Party and registered as a Republican, wasted no words when asked what he thinks of Mamdani, by Newsmax, on Friday. The 87 year old native New Yorker labeled Mamdani a "vicious antisemite" and "the greatest perpetrator of anti-Jewish hate in modern American history,” comparing the political climate in NYC under his leadership to early 1930s Germany.
