Personalized software for individuals is so easy to create now with AI, and we can see plenty of fun examples here on X
But will folks really use their own creations?
It seems unlikely. Making a personal game, for example, is fun for like 2 mins and then gets boring. Most of the fun of gaming is unpredictably experiencing someone else’s carefully thought-out creation and mastering it.
I don’t think most personal apps will be useful at all except for the joy of creating them. But ironically the easier they are to create, the more fleeting the joy.
A lot of the fun of creating software is
also sharing it with friends and seeing their reactions. But folks don’t want to spend much time with someone else’s half assed vibe coded product.
So it ends up that most people find joy mainly in bragging about their creations…. which no one uses, including themselves.
Humans are hard to please! Even with our own self-made creations
