WAYMO PARTNERS WITH GO TO LAUNCH LEVEL 4 ROBOTAXIS IN TOKYO BY 2027 $GOOGL owned Waymo and Japan’s 🇯🇵 GO Inc. have signed a strategic partnership to commercialize fully autonomous taxi services in Tokyo. The companies are targeting a 2027 launch of what they describe as Japan’s first commercial Level 4 unmanned taxi service, building on road-testing work that began in 2025 with Nihon Kotsu. Under the partnership: GO will integrate Waymo-powered rides into its existing GO ride-hailing app, coordinate with local taxi operators and manage customer demand. Waymo will provide its autonomous driving technology, safety framework and fleet management systems. The focus now is adapting Waymo’s system to Tokyo’s dense and complex road environment before commercial deployment.
