WATCH: Former University of Arkansas political science professor Shirin Saeidi is seen in a disturbing video telling Iranian human rights activist Ladan Bazargan that she will travel to Iran, find the grave of Bazargan’s brother Bijan, executed by the Islamic Republic dance on his grave, film it, and send the video to his sister. Let that sink in. Just a few months ago, she was a professor at an American university, threatening the sister of a man executed by the Iranian regime. This is why American and European universities need to start asking serious questions about who they put in front of students. Universities exist to educate young people, not to provide prestige and platforms to people who bring the language of authoritarian intimidation onto Western campuses. Iranian families have heard this language from the Islamic Republic for decades. They should not have to hear it from academics in America. I stand with @LawdanBazargan. Thousands of Iranians stand with her. You can leave Iran. You can enter Western academia. But if you bring the language of executioners with you, we will expose it.
