The Ethereum Foundation just cut a fifth of its staff
The Ethereum Foundation (
@ethereumfndn) has laid off 54 people, roughly 20% of its workforce, closing out a months-long restructuring. It says the cuts realign the organization around work "only EF can do," and reshape it into five divisions spanning protocol, users, community, and institutions.
The foundation was clear that this was a structural choice, not a market panic, even as ethereum:native trades near 1,650 in a broad downturn. Departing staff get severance and grants to stay in the ecosystem.
The EF is deliberately shrinking just as the core work spins outward, the same month Tom Lee called Ethereum's funding "secured" and ex-foundation researchers launched the Bitmine-backed Ethlabs.
