When an emergency happens, the response you see is supported by a system of planning, coordination and preparation that started long before the incident. August is National Emergency Management Planning Month, and we’re highlighting the importance of emergency management and the many teams that make it possible. Across the country, local, state, and federal emergency management organizations and incident management teams work year-round to prepare for complex emergencies. CAL FIRE Incident Management Teams are part of that network, helping coordinate personnel, resources, and critical functions when an incident requires additional management and support. When an incident becomes more complex, our IMTs can step in to coordinate operations, planning, logistics, public information, and other critical functions while working alongside partner agencies.
