THIS IS WHY PILOTS DON’T FORCE A LANDING. Air New Zealand’s A321 was on final approach into Wellington from Brisbane when windshear hit in already brutal conditions. The aircraft was seconds from landing. Then came the decision to go around. In a situation where conditions can change in an instant, the crew had only moments to react. They chose the safest option and powered away from the runway.
