I'm openly no admirer of the Royal Family, yet the death of Princess Diana remains one of those rare moments etched into everyone's memory. Everyone remembers exactly where they were when the news broke. I was a child on holiday in Greece and the entire hotel seemed to just stop; guests went to the foyer to watch the TV and stood in stunned silence. People then began to weep and were holding one another for comfort. I remember it clearly. Even those who were not British felt the weight of it, as that was the measure of her reach and I feel something essential has been missing from the public square ever since. That Harry and his odious wife continue, to this day, to trade upon the memory of her death reveals everything you need to know about their character. Those who would anoint Meghan Markle as Diana 2.0 are mistaken. She possesses neither the grace, the decorum, nor the honesty that Diana had in the tip of one fingernail. True, Diana was elevated to near sainthood after her death, though she was never an angel. Still, the manner of her dying remains heartbreaking. R.I.P.
