Some people will sleep beside you every night and still make you feel completely alone.
They'll lie, betray your trust, withhold affection, dismiss your feelings, and slowly chip away at your confidence. Then when you finally react to the hurt, they'll ask why you're "so sensitive," "so insecure," or "always causing problems."
They want the benefits of your love, loyalty, patience, and forgiveness without taking responsibility for the pain they create.
They'll wound you, watch you struggle, and then convince you that your reaction to the wound is the real issue.
That's what emotional manipulation looks like.
One of the saddest things is watching someone spend years trying to prove their worth to a person who already sees it. The problem was never that they didn't know your value.
The problem was that your self-doubt made it easier to control you.
The right people won't make you earn basic respect, beg for honesty, or constantly question your own reality.
Love should feel like a place of safety, not a never-ending test of your worth.
