When the world's principal monetary institution, @IMFNews, describes tokenization as reshaping finance, questions of governance and market structure move to the center of the policy agenda. ๐ŸŒ Three points stand out to us. 1) Cross-border payments remain slow, expensive, and inaccessible to a significant share of the world's population. That is a structural failure of existing rails, and it carries a measurable cost for households and small businesses that can least afford it. 2) The recognition that tokenized assets and programmable settlement are becoming part of the core plumbing of finance raises the standard for the quality of policy work in this space. 3) Trust, safeguards, and internationally coordinated oversight are the preconditions for payments innovation to operate at scale. Fragmented or reactive rulemaking will not produce a faster, cheaper, more inclusive system. Deliberate and coordinated rulemaking can. This is the work the Digital Sovereignty Alliance exists to support: ethical innovation, grounded in research, matched by policy that strengthens rather than surrenders digital sovereignty.
