Same moral math. He put the hijackers and the American response in one sentence and hit send. That post vanished. Dozens of others vanished with it. CNN found the pile where he called police departments standing armies and demanded funding cuts. Detroit Public Radio still has him saying, in June 2020, “we do need to defund the police.” He later told the Detroit News he never, never said that. Roll the tape. He sat on the board of the outfit that helped stage the Detroit protest that turned into a riot. Officers took rocks and bottles. A captain went to the hospital. A man in the crowd got shot. The same political neighborhood printed “fascist pigs” and “abolish the police.” He headlined a 2019 DSA fundraiser with Rashida Tlaib in front of a red fist choking a snake labeled CAPITALISM. The chapter called him a longtime friend. Ask him now and he is not technically or practically a member. Capitalism just needs a regulator. Unearthed audio has him telling people that if they want the American Dream they should move to Canada. At a Black voter table he smirked that white people like to call him a socialist. CBS reports the deleted 9/11 posts and his allies lose their minds. Hasan Piker calls the headline insane. Mehdi Hasan calls it Islamophobic, the same Mehdi Hasan who posted “Make American Planes Crash Again.” Yassamin Ansari calls it racist. Islam is a creed, not a color. The stern on-camera lines—America didn’t deserve 9/11, of course it wasn’t justified—show up in 2026, after he is already running and the old text is already a campaign problem. He announced in April 2025. The cleanup language arrived later. He wrote that the war on terror echoed slavery and Japanese internment, that Homeland Security was built to punish Muslim Americans, and that the threat hiding in the shadows was radicalized White men.
