🇺🇲🇨🇳US has been argued to prepare military actions against Chinese data centers before China wins AGI race. Former White House Official from Obama Administration Jacob Stokes has argued US to start preparing extreme measures to prevent China from reaching artificial general intelligence (AGI) first. The measures included diplomatic pressure, espionage, cyber operations, and even conventional military strikes on Chinese data centers. He also stated US agencies to start configuring intelligence to be used against actions. US currently holds the lead in AGI models. Chinese data centers are seen as soft targets using conventional bombs to destroy physical hardware that China needs to train the future AI generation models according to some analysts. AGI could give the first country that achieves it a decisive advantage in military, economic, and intelligence power Its hard to know whether China is nearing AGI or not. Military options on Civilian infrastructures such as data centers could be a declaration of war against two powerful nuclear states and the escalation risk is high. US can use its bases in the indo Pacific region countries like Japan, South Korea, Australia, Philippines and Guam or the mainland but this could drag these countries into conflict with Beijing. Successful strikes would likely delay China by a few years at most, according to modeling. Remaining hardware, new construction, and algorithmic improvements would continue. This clearly shows how former and current US officials take AI race serious.
