Something similar happened in my hostel at school. It was a small hostel that housed the landlord and his children in the same compound as us. The sweeping was rotated among four rooms: three for the students and one for the landlord. Whenever it was the turn of the landlord’s children, they would refuse to sweep. Since theirs usually came right before mine, they would leave the compound dirty for the whole day, and I would have to work twice as hard the next day to clean it. I couldn’t take it any longer and refused to sweep one day. You should have seen how their mother came banging on my door, calling me outside to come and sweep. I simply said, "Your children didn’t sweep yesterday, and they haven’t been sweeping, so they need to do the needful." She tried to assert her landlord rights, claiming that it was their compound and they shouldn’t have to sweep. I replied, "Oh wow. Mama, you’ll have to do your worst o." That woman almost went mad that day. She quarrelled from morning until afternoon when her husband returned. I didn’t give a hoot. Above all, love God.
