Two years ago today, Asteroid left Earth. On September 10, 2024, Polaris Dawn launched. Inside the capsule was the Shiba Liv designed — a small orange dog in a spacesuit she named Asteroid so other kids would see him float and believe they could reach for the stars too. She was in remission when he flew. Less than a month later, the cancer came back. She still got to watch her drawing become real. She still got to send a piece of herself into orbit before the next fight started. That was Liv. She never waited for perfect conditions to give something away. Two years later, Asteroid is SpaceX’s official mascot. Liv is our guiding star. And the promise she asked us to keep is still the work: help kids like her, one family at a time. If a stuffed dog can go to space, they can too. She believed that while she was well. She believed it after the scans changed. We still believe it.💫🚀
