🇮🇷🇺🇸 The map of Iran’s military supply chain is getting pretty interesting. The U.S. Treasury sanctioned a network it says was helping Iran buy weapons and components for its military. China shows up in it. So do Pakistan, Turkey and, more surprisingly, Saudi Arabia. At the center is Pakistani businessman Waseem Pasha Tajammal and his Cavalier Group. Treasury says Tajammal acted as an intermediary for Iran’s defense ministry, using companies across several countries to procure and distribute weapons. The Saudi connection is probably the most interesting part. Cavalier Dynamics for Technologies Company is based in Saudi Arabia and owned by the Pakistani parent company. Treasury says the action against it was coordinated with the Saudi government. So this isn’t evidence that Riyadh was part of the network. If anything, it suggests Saudi authorities are helping Washington take it apart. But the geography tells you something. Chinese components. A Pakistani intermediary. Companies in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Iran at the other end. Iran’s procurement network isn’t sitting neatly inside Iran, but threaded through everybody else’s economy.
