Even during a busy UN week in New York, I was glad there was time to meet Slovaks who keep our language and traditions alive far from home. ๐ธ๐ฐ๐บ๐ธ
Teachers, graduates and young people from the Slovak community in Chicago told me about the work they do through their school, folklore groups and community life.
What matters most is that children growing up in America do not know Slovakia only from family stories. They speak Slovak, learn our traditions and build their own connection to the country their parents and grandparents came from.
Thank you for keeping that connection alive.
