Capcom producer Masato Kumazawa has spoken about the backlash over NVIDIA's DLSS 5 AI demo for Resident Evil Requiem. In March, NVIDIA showed DLSS 5 using footage from the game. The AI version changed Graceโ€™s face by giving her fuller lips, more makeup, and a smoother look. In a new interview with Eurogamer today, Kumazawa said the strong fan reaction was actually a good thing. He explained: "The fact a lot of players commented they really liked the original design of Grace and didn't want to see it changed was a positive. It meant we got the design right and points to the fact that Grace quickly established herself as a fan favourite, that people had such strong opinions on her design." Since release, Resident Evil Requiem has sold more than 7 million copies in two months. NVIDIA plans to release DLSS 5 in fall 2026 as an optional feature. Game developers will control how it is used.
