Chinese researchers from CUHK MMLab have released OpenGame, a free open-source tool that can create complete and playable browser games from simple text descriptions. OpenGame uses a special AI model called GameCoder-27B, trained specifically for building games. It has a step-by-step system that plans the game, writes the code, adds parts, tests it, and fixes errors automatically. It also has a Game Skill system that saves good project templates and fixes for future use. The project launched in April 2026. All code, model weights, and an evaluation tool called OpenGame-Bench are available on GitHub.
