PlayStation Network has a critical security vulnerability that remains unpatched six months after it was first disclosed in December 2025. The flaw allows attackers to take over user accounts using nothing more than a purchase transaction number from any old receipt, invoice, or screenshot. Security journalist Nicolas Lellouche had his own PSN account compromised twice, even though he had 2FA and passkeys enabled. Sony support can transfer account ownership after verifying the transaction ID. A temporary protection flag was applied but has since expired, and no permanent fix has been implemented.
