Tymon Smektaลa, former franchise director and lead designer of the Dying Light series at Techland, recently shared his perspective on player feedback after stepping down from the studio in May 2026 following 13 years there.
He stated that developers have a strict obligation to listen to players, even when those players are often wrong about the solutions.
His point was that players are usually very good at noticing problems in a game.
They can quickly tell when something feels frustrating, boring, unfair, or broken. But players do not always know the technical limits behind development or the studioโs long-term plans for the game.
