Capcom says players in Japan and the West had very different opinions about Dragon’s Dogma 2.
The developers said the feedback was “diametrically opposite,” especially when it came to some of the game’s more frustrating mechanics.
For example, players in Japan and Asia were more likely to see things like travelling on foot and Dragonsplague as inconveniences. Players in Europe and North America were more likely to see them as “friction” that made the game more interesting.
Because of this, Capcom says it has tried to give players more options in Dark Arisen instead of simply removing mechanics that some people dislike.
One example is the new equipment transmog system, allowing players to change their character’s appearance without changing their equipment.
