Pokémon HeartGold is now fully decompiled.
A new GitHub project has decompiled all 4.1 MB of compiled code from Pokémon HeartGold into readable C/C++ source code.
The project says the work took around one month and cost roughly $56,000 in API usage.
The decompilation was carried out with the help of LLM agents. instead of manually reverse-engineering the entire game, AI agents were used to analyze and reconstruct the compiled code.
The repository also covers Pokémon SoulSilver and claims it can reproduce the original game code closely enough to generate byte-for-byte identical ROMs.
