Three years before ChatGPT existed, SK Group Chairman Tae-won (Tony) Chey had already started redirecting SK Group toward AI.
At the time, memory chips and AI looked like two unrelated businesses. SK Group’s traditional telecom business had slowed, but he told @danielnewmanUV he saw something better in AI and picked it as the new direction.
SK Group built a large internal organization to develop it in-house. When ChatGPT arrived roughly three years later, it didn't catch them off guard. It confirmed the bet they had already made. $SKHY @SKhynix
