lamb @LambofCrypto said something interesting a few days ago. essentially: alts have basically chopped since 2021, few outperformers, and nobody in crypto wants to entertain the idea of a "lost decade." i had a vague idea of what lost decades looked like in stocks but i took another look. 1966 to 1980. 2000 to 2013. huge ranges. slightly higher highs or double tops with deep drops and new lows. brutal chop. a year or two uptrend followed by a year or two downtrend. conclusion: a lost decade does not mean "down only". thus, it probably was hard to know you were in a lost decade while it was playing out. then look at altcoins last cycle. solana was the headliner. everything went right for it. it clipped the 2021 high and rolled straight back over. eth did the same. the best majors of the cycle tapped the old highs and failed. meanwhile the industry drifted towards faster launches, quicker rotations, more coins to choose from. it could be the bear market talking and this is a bottom signal post but maybe we're five years into the altcoins lost decade already...
