SENSITIVE CONTENT - UPDATE: Faith Williams, 57, was fatally shot Friday night around 11:15 p.m. entering a liquor store on Detroit’s east side. Her niece was shot too and remains hospitalized. The niece says they never even spoke to the shooter - no altercation, no warning, nothing. The suspect is 15 years old and is now in custody. People who know him say he hasn’t been right since he recently lost his mother, and video from around the time of the shooting reportedly shows him holding what may be her obituary. That context matters, but it doesn’t explain gunning down two strangers who did nothing to provoke him. A woman is dead and her niece is fighting to recover, and somewhere along the way this kid needed real intervention and didn’t get it.
