Like blasphemy cases, allegations can destroy lives before guilt is established. Like blasphemy, you can be booked for “insulting” figures who have been dead for centuries. And like blasphemy laws, its language is dangerously broad. But there is one difference: the scale is far greater. It is more draconian. The number of people destroyed by system under the SC/ST Act is vastly greater than those prosecuted under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws. No country can call itself civilized if it implements laws like blasphemy and SC/ST Atrocity act. Either reform it or abolish it. #StopMisuseOfScStAct
