JENSEN HUANG JUST JOINED X. LONG BEFORE NVIDIA AND ELON WERE HOUSEHOLD NAMES, THEY WERE ALREADY BUILDING TOGETHER
In August 2016,
@JensenHuang personally delivered
@elonmusk the world's first DGX, a supercomputer Nvidia spent five years building specifically for AI research.
He signed the machine by hand: "To the future of computing and humanity. I present you the world's first DGX-1!"
Musk hadn't originally asked for it. Per Huang, the idea started with his own engineers, until Musk heard about the project at a conference and told him directly: "I want one of those."
The two have continued to work together since. At the same conference where Huang told this story, Musk called him "awesome."
