South Carolina residents are being notified by text message that the SNAP Food Stamps program is changing to exclude sugary foods and drinks Residents are speaking out saying these new restrictions will mean children will go hungry without candy and soda “Healthy eating is a great thing, and it doesn't always fit in everybody's lifestyle — the children go hungry” They say these new work requirements are also going to be a problem “We saw a drop in the number of Americans who received SNAP dollars after new work requirements were signed into law — recipients in South Carolina dropped about 13%” Requirements are to work or volunteer 20 hours per week. This has caused 13% of the recipients of North Carolina to lose their benefits, they don’t want to do the new requirements
