FTSE Russell just shut down the SpaceX index FUD
In a formal letter to New York pension officials (and others), FTSE Russell confirmed:
•They never spoke to Elon or SpaceX before launching the Fast Entry consultation
•The rule change was requested by index users and advisory committees throughout 2025–2026 — not in response to SpaceX
•The consultation was public, open to everyone, and broadly supported
•SpaceX was added under the exact same transparent rules applied to any large IPO (T+5, consistent with FTSE Global rules that have existed since 2012)
•Free float and voting rights are handled via the standard 12-month lock-up provision already used across FTSE Russell indexes
No special treatment. No backroom deal. Just the index finally reflecting the actual size and importance of the company on a timely basis
$SPCX & $TSLA investors can ignore the noise. The methodology was updated for the market, and SpaceX simply met the criteria.
