The man across the hall always complained about how much money I spent.
Every time he saw a delivery at my door, he’d say:
“Must be nice to have money.”
I ignored him.
One evening, there was a knock.
It was him.
He looked uncomfortable.
“My daughter needs surgery,” he said. “I’m short $2,000.”
