The endgame after the initial weeks of attacks should have been to secure a passage through the Strait, go even tighter with sanctions, and tell Iran (and Qatar and Pakistan as mediators, for that matter) to pound sand with any demands for deals or money in any form. We have the ability to sit back and strike anything that goes near their nuclear sites at this point. We don’t need perpetual war to do that. When I opposed the JCPOA and the idea you can regulate Iran’s nuclear ambitions through some deal and essentially bribing them, that wasn’t just because it was Obama. I actually meant it. Lastly, we never should have cut Israel out of the fight. They were doing a lot of heavy lifting that we are now having to do, specifically with missile and drone suppression. They were also the ones willing to go after Iran’s regime leadership. And I know the answer from some will be “but we can’t secure the Strait.” I don’t buy that the most powerful military in history can’t, but if that’s true, then you never start the war at all. What’s silly, though, is the people who take nearly 4 months of decisions I wouldn’t have made in regards to premature ceasefires and pointless negotiation and then expect me to have the perfect fix for a strategy *others* wanted. The MOU-supporters won. They got their wish. Iran still chose to blow it up. That’s not on those who rightly predicted they’d never negotiate in good faith.

What would your endgame be in iran? What would make you say "this is okay, I'm fine with this." Genuine question.
