$1B crypto business idea:
build the blockchain that finally lets stablecoins compete with Visa.
stablecoins have solved one of the hardest parts of payments: moving money globally, instantly, and cheaply.
but moving money is only one part of commerce.
the reason Visa works so well for online payments is because there’s an entire system sitting between the buyer and merchant when something goes wrong.
a package never arrives. funds get stolen. a customer wants a refund. a merchant is fraudulent. a transaction needs to be disputed.
Visa has infrastructure and rules for all of it:
> chargebacks
> refunds and returns
> fraud protection
> dispute resolution
> buyer protection
> merchant protection
stablecoin payments don’t have any of that.
once you send the money, the transaction is generally final.
that’s great for settlement, but terrible for a lot of everyday commerce.
someone needs to build a blockchain or payment network specifically designed around this problem.
stablecoin settlement underneath, with a Visa like protection and dispute layer on top.
combine the two and you get the best of both worlds:
instant cheap global settlement with the protections consumers already expect from cards.
stablecoins underneath. visa like protections on top.
