am I the only one from whom this rhymes with social media creator payouts? The content network (X, Youtube, Tiktok, etc) incentivizes creators to publish "valuable" content to their network because it improves the value of the network to users, which means more eyeballs, more ad revenue.
what are the parallels? What are the differences? If registries pay maintainers, those costs land on consumers - what stops some other registry from spinning up that doesn't?
interesting few years for oss in either case
