I think for Westerners, they think of things through their own lens of humanity, compassion and stuff.
So when you think of an opposition in fascist dictatorship fighting anti-humane war, you naturally think they oppose it because they war is bad and they want it to stop.
But in fact, they oppose how uneffective current war management is - and they hope to be in power to kill Ukrainians more effectively.
